One of the most unorthodox geek celebrity comebacks of the past five years is, without a doubt, Wil Wheaton. No overly publicized return to TV or tell-all book from the set on The Next Generation; nope, Crusher seems to have punched his way through the womb of Comi Con and found himself a new place in pop-culture as himself.

Mars has kind of done the same thing in the same time-frame: once beloved, then sidelined, the red planet punched its way through the end of the Shuttle Program to find itself a new place in popular science.
