Yesterday’s volcanic explosion in Guatemala was a pretty dramatic spectacle, and if you’ve seen any pictures of the blast and subsequent lava-flow, you would probably agree that it was also impressive as hell.

Naturally, like a foiled terrorist plot or a presidential debate, the event was covered extensively all day, on all networks and from all angles… but someone beat to the punch… Yup, before any network could get media, Instagram users where covering comprehensively. I hate the cliche “The power of social networking,” but here it might be appropriate… perhaps I’ll just change it a bit: “The girth of social networking.

Anyway, Buzz Feed did a good job of compiling the shots; here are a couple:

SIDE NOTE: The Volcano is called the Volcano of Fire which seems redundant… It’s like naming a glacier The Glacier of Ice.
